Twisted Metal 2 remains one of the most celebrated vehicular combat games in classic PlayStation history. Unlocking hidden secret characters and activating powerful gameplay cheats enhances the chaotic destruction across its iconic arenas.
Essential In-Game Gameplay Cheats
Players can activate several powerful advantages during active matches by holding specific shoulder buttons and entering directional combinations. Holding L1, L2, R1, and R2 while pressing Up, Down, Left, Right, Right, Left, Down, Up activates total invincibility. Holding L2 and R2 with the same sequence grants unlimited ammunition and turbo capabilities.
For extra offensive capabilities, holding R2 and entering the standard directional sequence doubles your machine gun damage. You can also trade stored weapons for emergency health mid-combat by pressing Down, Up, Right, Left, Up, Up, Down, Down.
Unlocking Secret Boss Characters
Unlocking hidden drivers expands your roster options beyond the standard vehicular lineup. At the car selection screen, press L1, Up, Down, and Left to play as the formidable boss Minion. To unlock the iconic Sweet Tooth, highlight the selection screen and press Up, L1, Triangle, and Right.
Audio confirmation like an explosion sound effect indicates that the button combination was entered successfully. These secret characters offer unique special abilities and higher damage resistance during combat.
Advanced Attack Combinations
Mastering advanced special moves allows players to inflict heavy damage without relying solely on pickup items. Pressing Right, Left, and Up fires a instant Napalm attack toward nearby opponents. Entering Left, Right, and Up unleashes a Freeze Blast that immobilizes target vehicles temporarily.
Defensive maneuvers are equally important when navigating crowded battlefields. Pressing Up, Up, and Left allows your vehicle to execute a vertical jump to dodge incoming missiles. Entering Right, Left, and Down drops a mine directly behind your vehicle to deter tailgaters.
Modern Platform Trophy Considerations
Players enjoying emulated versions on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 should note that gameplay cheats disable trophy unlocks. However, level select passwords entered from the main menu do not prevent earning achievements or the Platinum trophy. Utilizing strategic resets helps maintain trophy progress while testing different strategies.
